Neil Gaiman on Copyright Piracy and the Web
“Places where I was being pirated […] I was selling more and more books. People were discovering me through being pirated. And then they were going out and buying the real books”
“Nobody who would’ve bought your book is not buying it because they can find it for free. What you’re actually doing is advertising, you’re reaching more people, you’re raising awareness.”
He makes an excellent, reasonable point. I think piracy isn’t going anywhere and to keep the creations we all love alive, it will take both a progressive attitude from creators and responsibility from readers. If you pirate something and you like it, buy it. And keep buying it. And encourage others to buy it.

There’s a rule about never not reblogging Neil, right?
saying smart things. (Funny how this is a year old...STILL just as relevant as ever)
Neil Gaiman, you are a brilliant man and my hero. Never stop being amazing.
I already reblogged the quote, but I like the top comments on the video as well.
